The school/boutique project S.KOOL is coming to the end of its first 3 months at City2. Before being hired by their sponsors, the 11 young jobseekers trained in sales techniques, communication and Dutch received their diploma with pride this morning.
Three months or so after the S.KOOL project was inaugurated, the results are positive for all: AG Real Estate and its partners Actiris, Bruxelles Formation, the retailers of City2 and the young trainees.
11 young jobseekers in Brussels seized the opportunity to take part in the first edition of S.KOOL, this innovative school/boutique project and completed their training in sales techniques, communication and Dutch.
The on-the-job training (FPIE — Formation professionnelle individuelle en entreprise [in-company individual vocational training]) provided by the trainers of Bruxelles Formation, supplemented by workshops and above all by running the concept store created for the occasion by AG Real Estate, which owns City2, Anspach and The Mint in the centre of Brussels, afforded the young people an opportunity to find themselves in a real situation from day one of the programme.
Exceptional results were achieved thanks to this training. More specifically, several partners have already committed themselves to giving an employment contract to 6 out of the 11 graduates at the end of the programme, after the three-month contract promised to each of them and the rotation and training period. The process for the 5 other candidates has already got under way successfully and they too should be able to find a job at the end of the project. A Job dating exercise will be organized in the presence of other retailers at City 2 who have already shown interest in the project and these motivated young people.
Serge Fautré, CEO of AG Real Estate: “In launching S.KOOL at City2, AG Real Estate and its partners wanted to give young people an opportunity to learn sales techniques and Dutch on the job, but also to offer retailers at City 2, Anspach and The Mint the possibility to recruit in an innovative manner candidates with the right profile who have been trained to meet their needs.
Thanks to all the partners of this project, the young jobseekers were given customized training and were able to put what they learnt to practice in the 200 m² concept store created for the occasion.
Going beyond the role of owner and getting involved in a social project in the retail sector in the centre of Brussels was self-evident for a company like ours. The success of this inspiring project is a source of pride for AG Real Estate. Together with our partners, we are seriously continuing the adventure by launching a second edition of S.KOOL in October.”
Olivia P'tito, General Manager of Bruxelles Formation: “Bruxelles Formation was delighted to take part in this project and deployed a customized, hybrid programme for sales-staff/shelf fillers at once. The 11 young jobseekers were thus offered a programme that combined theory and practice. Furthermore, the FPIE measure which we supervise enabled retailers to train themselves young people to work as sales staff and then to offer an employment contract to the trainees at the end of the programme. We are consequently very proud of this innovative public-private partnership which we hope to continue, and wish the 11 trainees all the luck in getting an open-ended employment contract from retailers!”
“Actiris is proud to have done its bit in this innovative project. Select Actiris managed the first preselection phase: 250 CVs received and analysed, 60 candidates shortlisted and finally 11 that will have an opportunity to learn the tricks of the trade for sales staff in a real shop. They acquired an unforgettable and above all indispensable initial work experience. We are already looking forward to the next edition and hope to inspire more employers,” Grégor Chapelle, General Manager of Actiris concludes.
The four partners thanked and congratulated the 11 successful trainees and wished them all the best in their working life.
