Through its urban identity, City2 takes part in the renewal and beautification of the City of Brussels by inaugurating its first major civic action “Clean the City.”
As ambassadors, Alex Germys (producer and DJ), Kody (comedian), Ryad Mehry (boxing champion), Aurélie Van Daelen (influencer) and Vincent Vanasch (goalkeeper of the Red Lions) support the project enthusiastically and are raising awareness among their audiences through the social media.
“Clean the City”: An action undertaken with a 3-step approach
- Collection
In consonance with the “European Week for Waste Reduction,” City2 invited all citizens in the city centre to show their interest for the environment openly by taking part in the collection of plastic waste until 25 November.
The operation was evidently successful, as 2200 litres of plastic waste (or 88 kg) were deposited in 10 days in the container placed near City2.
- Recycling and processing
In association with an artist* of their respective choice, the ambassadors are going to create conceptualized objects jointly before the audience’s very eyes, thanks to a 3D printer, developed by the Belgian start-up The One Project in cooperation with Colossius. More specifically they will create 5 customized giant hashtags, bearing a message from each ambassador relating to sustainability – emblematic objects and symbols of an era.
- Rehabilitation
City2 will reserve 5 exhibition grounds dedicated to these hashtags. An auction will be organized in the beginning of 2020 and the 5 works could then shine in their new environment.
60% of the selling price will be allocated to “Zero Waste Belgium,” which will raise awareness among the general public about waste management and wastage. 40% will be allocated to the ambassador for a cause of his or her choice.
City2 is giving positive and engaging impetus here and is keen to impact its direct environment by motivating citizens to keep up the good work #Itsup2you !
